LITTLE IS BIG/PEQUEÑO ES GRANDE

We are pleased to announce our latest production: a bilingual version of a Shadow Box Theatre favorite: Little Is Big/Pequeño Es Grande. This production brings joy and bilingual learning through music, movement and puppets to your classroom.

Pequeño Es Grande es una adventura muy divertida para todos. Los niños pueden acompañar al peceito Spinny mientras aprende sobre la amistad.

In this underwater adventure, the little fish Spinny and his many friends find courage and the true meaning of friendship. Together all the endearing creatures of this story, portrayed by puppets and voices of gifted musical artists, learn how little can be big, and how to create a more peaceful world. The three performers use live music, song and colorful fish puppets to spark children's imagination of an enchanted landscape deep beneath the sea.

This adventure, with narration and lyrics in both English and Spanish, includes thrilling and energetic storytelling as well as moments of learning to be calm.

Recomended for 3-K through 1st grade.

Based on the Ananse Stories of West Africa and the Caribbean, this puppets and people musical written by Emelia Asiedu with music by Greg Alexander, teaches decision making skills and critical thinking, and the concept of storytelling as a way of sharing experience as a form of wisdom.

HOW THE TURTLE GOT ITS SHELL

How the Turtle Got Its Shell is an African folktale.  Drumming, rhythm, movement, and chanting all help set the scene for this witty and wise traditional tale of the little turtle who outwits the fierce leopard and is rewarded with a shell. In the opening of the show, the drummer introduces the African instruments and various words from African languages. The energy and spirit of our drummer is clearly contagious, and the entire audience is soon singing and clapping along. Renowned African percussionist Chief Neil Clarke tells the story with his drums. (There are no puppets in this production.)

Recommended for Pre-K-5th grade. Available as an in-person Storybook Theatre or virtually.
